As part of the annual heritage week organised by the Cold War Network , master developer Urban & Civic and the Airfield Research Group joined forces to deliver guided tours of the Grade II* listed TR-1 Avionics Building at Alconbury Weald.
This yearโs event was enhanced by the presence of former USAF veteran Tim Lindell, who worked on the TR-1 sensor programme at RAF Alconbury during the early 1990s, offering visitors a rare first-hand insight into the siteโs Cold War intelligence role. Guests were able to explore the striking late-Cold War architecture of the avionics complex and learn more about the highly classified reconnaissance and intelligence-processing activities once undertaken within its reinforced walls.
The Cold War Network promotes the preservation and interpretation of Britainโs Cold War heritage.
